📖 PAS — Pain, Amplify, Solution — is one of the oldest copywriting formulas: name the reader's pain, amplify what it costs them, then hand them the solution. The Amplify step leans on loss aversion (Kahneman & Tversky's Prospect Theory): people act to avoid a loss more readily than to chase a gain. Read the full framework

What is the PAS framework?

PAS is a three-step copywriting structure: Pain, Amplify, Solution. Name the pain the reader already feels, amplify what it's costing them, then hand them the solution. It's a favorite for landing pages and short-form sales copy because it gets to the point fast.

Why score just the headline?

Your headline is the gatekeeper for the whole page. If it doesn't name a pain, raise the stakes, or promise a solution, most visitors never read the rest of your PAS structure. This tool checks the elements a single line can carry and shows you rewrites that lead from each stage.

How the score works

We check four things: whether your headline names a pain (Pain), signals the cost of inaction (Amplify), promises an after-state (Solution), and speaks directly to one reader at the right length (clarity). Each hit adds points. The rewrites show what a stronger version of each element looks like for your copy.
